Lazy Days of Summer

August 5, 2018

Once again it has been a while since I have posted anything... just the lazy days of summer. Although we have been quite busy this summer there has been very few adventures in the last month for  various reasons. However, each day brings it own little adventures. Carol and I are still trying to hike on Sundays but weather and circumstance often have conspired against us in July.

Sunday morning 'mug shot'

As usual our hiking Sundays start off in a friendly diner and I get the obligatory shot of Carol and her coffee cup - it has become a tradition. I have put together a short video of some of the things we have been doing and will drop an explanation of everything just below.

Catching up a bit on what has been going on this summer.

So this video starts out in East Providence high over my house with views of Narragansett Bay. We are so fortunate to live so close to the water as there is always something to do and see along the waterfront. We love visiting our friends Van and Andi who have a place out on Prudence Island and always enjoy the ferry ride. I almost always make a bread of some sort, you see it briefly in the video, still cooling on the bench of the ferry over to Prudence. We are also fortunate to live just minutes away from the East Bay Bike Path, a wonderful 14 mile path running along the bay and through several towns from East Providence to Bristol, Rhode Island. I ride this frequently, and as you can see in in the video. - Link to a bike ride - A weekly breakfast with Christopher has been going on since 1989 - almost 30 years - and Dick has joined us recently - always a lively conversation. -  Link to a breakfast video - The beach scenes are down at Scarborough Beach in Narragansett, we love the beaches of Rhode Island. Hiking is always on the agenda - the clips here are in Myles Standish State Forest near Plymouth, Massachusetts. The time lapse is at a community picnic in Mattapoisett with friends. A great evening and Mexican themed too. I have been encouraged to make a bread Eiffel Tower for next years picnic...hmmmm.  And summing up there are pix of me at the doctors office more bread and scened around Rhode Island, a visit to work and so on. It has been a bust month and we are looking forward to August which has a lot of camping planned...we will see if the weather is compatible. Hopefully there will be more frequent posts.

Grove Street - watercolor painting 16X12 inches

Also keeping us busy this month is work, well not much of it but a little. I have been teaching a sketching class on Tuesdays while Carol is doing her chaplain work. We don't see much of each other on Tuesdays. Above is a paint that came out of a sketch class..this was done in the studio from the sketch I did on location.
